Accessibility Statement
We want everyone to be able to use Budfront and the storefronts we build, including people who rely on assistive technology.
Our commitment
Budfront is committed to making our website, dashboard and the dispensary storefronts we power usable by as many people as possible, regardless of ability or the technology they use. Accessibility is part of how we design, build and test, not something we add at the end.
The standard we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make digital content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor and cognitive disabilities.
What we’ve done
- Semantic structure. Pages use proper headings, landmarks and lists so screen readers can navigate them, plus a “Skip to content” link on every page.
- Keyboard navigation. Menus, tabs, carousels, filters and forms can be used with a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator.
- Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, we turn off animations, auto-advancing content and scrolling effects.
- Color contrast. We choose text and background colors with contrast in mind, and we don’t rely on color alone to convey information.
- Text alternatives. Meaningful images and icons have text alternatives. Purely decorative illustrations are hidden from assistive technology so they don’t add noise.
- Forms. Form fields have visible labels, errors are described in text, and focus moves to the first field that needs attention.
- Responsive design. Pages adapt to small screens and are designed to stay usable when text is zoomed.
Dispensary storefronts
We apply the same standards to the websites, menus and apps we build for dispensaries. Each dispensary is responsible for the content it adds, such as product photos and descriptions, and we give them guidance on writing accessible content, like adding descriptive alt text to product images.
Known limitations
We’re continually working to improve. Here are areas we know need work:
- Moving content. The scrolling customer results and review rows on our homepage move automatically. Each has a visible “Pause animation” button, they pause when you hover over them, and they stop entirely if your device is set to reduce motion.
- Auto-advancing tabs. The feature tabs on our homepage advance on their own until you select one. Selecting any tab, or hovering over its content, stops them from advancing.
- Third-party content. Some content comes from third parties, such as embedded maps and fonts, which we don’t fully control.
If you run into any of these or other barriers, please let us know. We’ll help you get the information or complete the task another way.
Compatibility
Our website is designed to work with recent versions of major web browsers on desktop and mobile, and with commonly used screen readers and other assistive technologies. It may not work fully with older browsers or outdated assistive technology.
